Cornell Elementary ~ Okemos, Michigan
The students of Cornell Elementary
wrote the following poem using the poetic devices
of alliteration, simile and metaphor.

Shopping for Spoiled Milk

On Sunday, Sally shopped for spoiled milk.
Her last spoiled milk spilt on her quilt.

Spoiled milk is like 70 day-old cheese.
You can never clean it up with ease.

The milk was sloppy yellow jello.
It could make fellows bellow because of the smell-o.

Sally shopped for spoiled milk on Sunday.
It's gonna be worse by Monday!

Here is a poem by Molly C.

I never heard a cat bark,
nor a cow meow.
But if I did,
I would remark,
"How did this happen? How?"
