Patterson Elementary ~ Grades 4 & 5
The 4th and 5th Grades wrote a poem about the Soo Locks. Here are two versions of it.

Ships ride through to carry ore

and when they're done, they pick up more.

Oh, up and down, the ships may go,

and when they do, the freighters know.

Over the lake and to the shore,

the thousand-foot ships can carry more.

Ships ride through to carry ore

And when they're done, they pick up more.

On through the lakes of the Wolverine state,

up and down through the Soo Lock gates.

Over the lakes and through the locks.

If you fall in, you'll have soggy socks.
